Create an educational and fun AR Lens that tackled the topic of sustainability while making use of the depth sensing capabilities of Snap’s Lens Studio and Google’s AR Core technology.
Snap Inc. and Google were looking to have Lens Creators create a number of Lenses in celebration of Earth Day 2021. These Lenses were to really take advantage of depth in an environment so as to show off Google’s AR Core tech.
In response, I pitched a game that had underwater contaminants like 6 pack rings, and toxic waste canisters dropping into the user’s environment, which is turned into an ocean floor through AR. The user has to navigate their immediate surroundings and tap on objects as they drop so the fish don’t die off. As more contaminants fill the environment, the water becomes murkier and eventually the player loses.
The entire project built in Snap Inc.’s Lens Studio, while the 3D meshes and animations were created in Cinema4D.
